Nightmare

Happy Friday!

I am typing this with a hot cup of tea. I woke up way too early from a scary nightmare so here I am writing up this post. Isn’t it frightening how real nightmares can seem? Anyways it’s Friday so I am sure many people are waking up with a smile. πŸ™‚

Breakfast this morning was an omelette with a banana on the side. The omelette may not look appetizing, but it is ridiculously good.

Facial Relationship

It’ hard to see it in the picture but there are Christmas lights hidden in the plants. I was left with a long wire of Christmas lights after putting them on the window so I placed them through out the plants. When it is dark out it gives the living room a pretty decoration.

In other news, I had to get a facial the other day. 😦

So I am one of those people who has been ‘graced’ with blackheads, which means I have to get a facial every month. :/ I have pores that you could probably spot from Mars. As most people who frequent spas know facials are expensive so even though I say I need them every month it doesn’t mean that I actually get them every month. Last week, I was overdue for a facial (4 months) so I booked an appointment and watched my wallet cry as I handed over my money. I realized 5 things happen to me every time I get a facial.

  1. I am told I have a ton of blackheads(what a surprise?!)
  2. I start to feel like I have to sneeze as the blackheads are extracted
  3. I wonder if I should have just booked a massage
  4. I try to catch my breath everytime steam is placed on my face
  5. I wish they would change the music on the speakers

I have yet to find any cheap facial products to get rid of blackheads. Not to be negative or gross I just felt I needed to vent about my dislike of getting facials. I understand many people experience enjoyable ones and even are psyched to get one. I am aware that I am rare when saying I am not a fan. On the bright side, I am going to kettle bell this morning or as I call it “a quicker way to clog my pores” class. Tonight, I am going to my friend’s place to watch xmas movies and drink William Sonoma hot chocolate. πŸ™‚

 

Top Ten

Lately, I have noticed that I have certain things in my life that I am loving right now. A smile starts to creep on my face as I think of all these things. I have compiled a list of my “top ten”because I think anything that makes you happy should be shared.

  1. Bath and Body Works candle. This candle transforms me back to a childhood moment of waking up to the smell of pancakes on the weekend. I immediately had to buy this candle when I smelt it in the store. And it was on sale!Β img_4146
  2. Crepe machine. My mom and I are a huge fan of crepes. When I was in high school, my mother would pick me up and take me to this french themed restaurant where we would eat the yummiest crepes. Last weekend, my mom bought the pan and I have made so many crepes. Maybe my dream job should be opening a crepe shop? Β πŸ˜‰
  3. Christmas music! I have to mention it. Christmas music gives me such a pep in my step. πŸ™‚img_4141
  4. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
    My sister and I went to see the movie and I loved it! I can’t stop looking at pottermore.com to learn more about the characters. I can’t believe I have to wait so long for the next one. I have so many questions that I need answered. I read the book after seeing the movie and I loved it too!
  5. Dancing. It’s free and its fun. I maybe terrible at doing it but I can’t stop, won’t stop.
  6. Solar powered LED lights. Helping the environment is very important to me so when I saw that amazon had solar powered lights for christmas I knew they would be perfect for the holiday season.
  7. SALES!!!! I have been on a search for a gray pom-pom hat for the winter. I finally found one on sale. It’s original price is $88 but is on sale for $29. Luckily, I had a $20 coupon as well so after using the coupon it came out to $17. πŸ™‚ Blame the shipping price for it not being $9 like I thought it would be. I will show you when it comes in the mail.
  8. Hot apple cider mixed with William Sonoma mulled spices. SOOOO GOOD!tea morning
  9. This horrifying creature.img_4129Meet Charlie. My family rescued her in Brooklyn. She has the canter of a baby deer, the energy of the energizer bunny, and the anger of a manatee. She is all limbs and her greatest achievement is falling asleep in less than 2 minutes.
  10. FINALLY! Number 10 is a big one because I get to do my favorite thing……TRAVEL. I am leaving the country this winter for a trip with one of my best friends. It has been consuming my mind for the past two weeks since I booked the tickets. I will take lots of pictures and I am sure it will be an amazing, memorable experience.sunset 2

 

I have missed blogging. Life got crazy busy, then again when does it not feel like a rollercoaster? I plan on relaxing today by going to the spa with my mom. I bought her a gift card for a massage last Christmas so we figured tomorrow would be a good day to utilize it. We both are off work so it should be a fun day.

Nap Struggles

So in my last post I wrote about how my day was going to be very busy. Well when I came home from work that day I had a little break before my fitness class so I took a nap. HUGE MISTAKE! I woke up sooooooo grumpy. When my alarm went off I sat in bed debating if I should go to my kettlebell class. My brain literally felt like it was in a fog, but I dragged myself out of bed because those classes cost money, which I do not have a lot of.

The class was super crowded so I grabbed the last spot in the back row.

I grabbed two kettlebells to bring to my yoga mat. One was 20lb and the other was 15lb. The 15lb bell I like better because my arms feels less fatigued when I use it. The 20lb bell is used for when I do hinges. Anyhoo! A new person joined the class and the instructor took my 15lb kettlebell away and said I could just use the 20lb during class. I could feel my muscles crying as the 15lb bell was handed to the newbie.

We finished the class by stretching, which is the part I hate the most because I am not flexible. Flexible people, teach me your ways!

Class ended! I ran home to eat dinner, then rejoined the dream I left when my alarm clock rudely woke me up.

I have a busy day ahead of me. I have work, a fitness class, appointments to attend, and flashdrives to buy.

I bought a flash drive to save all of my info on because I am unsure if I am going to buy a new computer. I have had my computer since 2010 so it’s a little bit slow. Anyhoo! I went to the store and bought the cheapest flashdrive because I figured a fancy one wouldn’t be necessary. Well it looks like I need an education in flashdrive shopping because I bought a flashdrive that wasn’t too helpful. I left the store with a 8GB flashdrive, which is pretty much a waste because just my photo collection alone is 13GB. 😦

Lesson of the Day:

Check the gigabytes on your computer before buying a flashdrive.

Fooling Myself

I am writing this post on a Friday because I have plenty of time to type. I had a very good start to my morning. I woke up an hour and a half before my morning fitness class so I had lots of time to enjoy a cup of tea and breakfast. Last week, I woke up for my fitness class about 20 minutes before it started and the best thing that happened was that I didn’t give my brain enough time to realize that I was about to do an intense workout. If that makes sense?

When I went to my class this morning I made a fool of myself. First, while swinging the kettlebell around my body I accidentally dropped it and it flew about 5 feet from me while making a loud sound as it hit the floor. I have seen people do this in class before and always thought, ‘wow! I would be so embarrassed if that was me.’ Well I guess karma bit me in the you know what this morning. Second, while stretching my abs on a yoga ball I fell. We were all laying with our backs on the ball as our hands dangled from below our heads. I titled a little too far back and lost my footing. I ended up falling sideways off the ball and became squished between the ball and the wall. As I STRUGGLED to stand up (I am not exaggerating) I look over and saw one of my classmates staring at me upside down trying not to laugh.

You ever hear someone say, ‘all bad things happen in threes?’ Well I hope that doesn’t go for embarrassing things as well. I have a birthday dinner to attend tonight and I am hoping I don’t make a fool in the event of having fun.

*Update* My third bad/embarrassing thing of the day was that I stained my bathroom sink pink while trying to temporary dye the ends of my hair pink.

 

 

I am a Board

Who doesn’t love a Thursday? It is basically the pre game for the weekend.

I spent today feeling stiff as a board and I am pretty sure I will be for the next week three days. I went to a kettlebell class this morning and I haven’t been to a class since either April or May so my body was not prepared. First of all, getting up this morning was torture. I am a nine-hour type sleeper so anything below that makes me feel like I am waking up out of a haze. Second, I got to the class and figured my body would be used to it, but the instructor said she pretty much did the same thing when she missed classes for a while. I had to lower the amount of weight I use to use and all of the exercises were intense. At least this means the classes were actually working on my arms when I went regularly. I finished the class doing super intense ab exercises because when the teacher asked the class if they wanted to finish with arms or abs the class said abs. Is it just me that prefers arm exercises over abs? I was a super sweaty mess when I left so I ran 2 miles to give my legs a little bit more exercise. The humidity in NY hasn’t been very kind to my hair so I have permanent hair halo going on and the sweat from running hasn’t made it look any better.

Sorry for such a lame exercise post. I had a yummy breakfast this morning so I am one happy camper. I have cauliflower rice in the fridge that will start going bad soon if I do not use it so I will be spending some time on Pinterest looking for some good recipes. Since I didn’t take a picture of my breakfast I figure I will show you that I found churros at Trader Joes. The little 8-year-old in me was so excited. Now all I need to do is buy caramel sauce. πŸ™‚

Hamptons Life Is a Fun Life

The Hamptons is a beautful place to visit in NY. I was lucky enough to rent a beach house this summer with friends there and I had so much fun! So you can imagine how excited I was when I was able to visit the Hamptons one more time this summer when I went last Saturday to the Revolve house for a party they were hosting.

The party was amazing!! The decorations, people, the house, and music all made the party fabulous. It was definitely an instagram worthy place full of beautiful flowers, a life sized scrabble board, unique pool floats, and fancy wine glasses.

Relaxation Is a Hobby

I love a good month of July as much as I love having colored toes. When I came back from the Hamptons I was in serious need of a pedicure. The sand really did a number on my feet so I headed over to my local salon. I am all about saving money so I tend to lean toward the DIY nail spa in my room but I decided getting them professionally done would be a bit more fun this time. I am in love with the color. It was relaxing and I was all alone as I read my magazine.

I was staring at my toes this morning (I know. I am weird) and I started thinking about other things that I find enjoyable to do when I am alone.

I love being around people but sometimes family and friends are busy with jobs and other committments so we all end up at some point having time for just ourselves. We have to learn to enjoy that time with ourselves as much as the time we experience with others.

Six things I love doing by myself are

  • Reading. I love reading so much I could talk non-stop about it. Reading allows me to experience a diffeent world without leaving my comfy seat.
  • Β Driving in the car with the music blasting.
  • Dancing. Yes, I am one of those people who dances in their home by themselves.
  • Walking my dog. Anyone that has a dog knows this can be pretty relaxing.
  • Paddle boarding. I tried this while I was in the Hamptons and I am obssessed right now. So much fun!!!
  • Running

What Are The Cool Kids Up To

Happy Monday!

I ran 4 miles! Yay! πŸ™‚ When I ran last week it ended up terribly. I made it to the end of mile 1 and I honestly felt like crap so I just turned around and went home. I literally threw in the towel and got in the shower because running was just not happening. Today, I woke up and just ran and ran until I felt like going home.

I thought I would compile a bunch of pictures from this week.

I made this awesome cauliflower fried rice . I found the recipe onΒ whatsfordinneresq . It tasted amazing like I ate the whole thing in two days.

Here is a picture of my alarm clock that I set before I took a shower. I was scared that I would miss the beginning of The Bacholorette. I could not possibly be the only one who goes into a trance like state in the shower, right?

I bought a magic bullet last week so I am trying out different recipes. I made a strawberry smoothie for the first time and I must say it tasted great! I made it the next day to have on my way to work and it kept me full for three hours. Not bad! I might add chia seeds to see if that will keep my belly full for a little longer.

I always try to use a reusable bag when I go grocery shopping so my mom bought me one from a british store that she visited in LA.
