December 21

Hi there!

I hate to say it, but it has been I think since September since I last posted. Oh the shame!

September rolled around and all of sudden I was busy like that type of busy where your bed feels like that dangerous boyfriend your mother doesn’t want you to be with. Sleep seemed to be calling me at all hours of the day. When September started I enrolled in a class that may help me in future career opportunites. In addition, I started a virtual internship and also had to keep up going to my regular job. All of sudden I became one of those people who declared they felt busy and tired all of the time.

Now I can finally relax because I finished my internship and my class is about to end. Most importantly, it is Christmas week so I can’t help wearing a massive grin at all hours of the day. I have come to the conclusion that I love this blog and I hated putting it to the side these past few months. So I thought I would just mention what I have been up to this these past few months. Happy Monday! 🙂

  1. I became a godmother to my beautiful niece.
  2. I realized I hated my internship so that just makes me one step closer to finding out what I want to do.
  3. I still am not sure what I want to do in the future but I am getting there.
  4. I am going to Disney World very soon! 🙂
  5. I have fallen in love with my crockpot. I think it is one of the best inventions.
  6. One of my best friends came to visit me in October and I spent a ton of time laughing that weekend.
  7. I got a haircut and have changed the color of my hair twice this fall.
  8. I have finally figured out how to style my hair.
  9. Brow gel is now my new best friend.
  10. I had one of the best Thansgivings this year.

Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day is like a second New Year’s Day for me. Labor Day makes me feel like a new year is on the horizon. I get excited for all the new stuff to try such as fitness classes and taking up new hobbies, whether it is dancing or crafting. Labor Day is also full of barbecues, which is probably on my ‘top 5 favorite smells list.’  This post is not very long because I all have to say is Happy Labor Day and yay! for all those who do not have to work today and get to relax.

I also wanted to remind everyone to please notice how great your life is before you wish for better things. Your life does not need to be perfect for you to like it. Waiting for perfection will never make you happy. I am not immune to the feeling of seeing people on Instagram or Facebook and wishing my life was like theirs. I have been irritated before when I haven’t had plans on say a Friday night or mad that I didn’t have a massive house on some gorgeous beach. But really what is the point of feeling this way? I am so lucky to have friends and family. Just because I do not have plans on a Friday night does not mean I will never have plans on the weekend ever again. I cam to this realization last Thursday.

Thursday, I hung out with one of my besties in TriBeca. I had a lot of fun with her and, then I went to soul cycle before I walked home. I was walking along the Hudson River on the west side. People were exercising, enjoying happy hour, and chatting with friends. I was walking through some gorgeous, tiny parks and I honestly felt like I was living in the moment, which is weird because I only ever feel like that when I am dancing  or laughing with friends. Who would ever think walking on a path would remind you how great life can be? The sun was setting against the Hudson River giving off a gorgeous view and I was passing colorful flowers on bushes. I could feel the end of the week excitement floating in the air. All of a sudden I realized how lucky I was to be walking in a beautiful area with a stunning view toward a home that was stocked with food and a cozy bed to sleep in. I even enjoyed watching people having fun instead of being jealous of them or wishing I was them.

The earth can be such a beautiful place, where people can do such kind and amazing things. Yes, my life is not perfect but it has so many little perfect things in it. Embracing the little perfect things can make life so much more fun. My word to anyone reading this post is please notice the things that make you lucky this Labor Day weekend. Every single person has something in their life that can make them smile. Something as simple as a sunset made me smile. We all are struggling with so many hardships so this Labor Day just take a second to notice the good stuff in your life , whether it is a warm hug from a family member, a yummy meal, a smile from a stranger, or your favorite song playing on the radio. 🙂

Yoga for me? Nah

Hi,

I am writing this post after my failed attempt at beginner yoga. :/

First, let me tell you about my Sunday brunch.

On Sunday I met with my friend, Harper, on the Upper West Side. I picked the location Sugar and Plumm for our Sunday brunch. The restaurant kind of reminds me of my childhood dream bedroom. The door handles are lollipop shaped, the atmosphere smells like dessert, and large pieces of chocolate are for sale in a corner. My friend wasn’t even surprised that I picked it for our brunch location.

My favorite breakfast to eat from Sugar and Plumm is grits.

I ordered a cup of hot tea with grits. It tasted amazing!

I had a wonderful time chatting with my friend. She told me all about her new apartment and what the moving in experience was like (FYI, I hate moving in and out of places). We also talked about her first day of school, which was the next day. She starts graduate school this week and I think she is going to be a fantastic student. She loves what she is studying and could probably talk about it for hours.

We finished our meals with some yummy dessert, then headed over to a farmers’ market. The farmers’ market was on the same sidewalk as the American Museum of Natural History. I wanted to buy strawberry jam from one of the stands. I haven’t tried the jam yet, so I can’t say whether it is good. Across from the farmer’s market was a flea market. I thought my friend would want to check out the market since she just moved into a new place.

After the flea market, we took a walk into my favorite place, Central Park. After I left her I rode the subway to the tea shop, Palais des Thes. I like the taste of their oolong with flowers and exotic fruits because I do not have to put any sugar or milk in it.

When I got home I took a long nap after being busy all weekend.

I barely took photos but I guess that sometimes happen when you get too busy chatting away with your friend.

Now I must talk about my terrible relationship with yoga. My physical therapist says I really need to work on my flexibility so he recommended yoga. I tried a yoga class in college as well as in my hometown and I hated both of them. The class in my hometown focused heavily on the breathing part to the point where we sat and breathed for a very long time. I also had a yoga dvd for kids when I was younger and that was a little bit enjoyable, but that’s probably because I was more flexible than. Yesterday,I bought a beginner yoga dvd and I can barely do the moves that the instructor is doing. I need a beginner’s dvd for the one I just bought. Hopefully, I will one day praise the greatness of yoga but for now we are in a complicated relationship.

Happy Tuesday! 🙂

Lazy Monday

Happy Monday!

Today will be a very lazy day for me. I had a lot of work to do this past weekend. Apparently, it is supposed to be in the high 90’s here, which my terrible air conditioner will not be able to fight off. My air conditioner is definitely on its last moments of its life. It doesn’t really blow cold air, it sort of just coughs it at random moments. Anyway I wanted to tell a little story that happen to me last week.

I went running last Wednesday and fell hard onto the concrete. I am not sure if it was the way I was running or if there was a bump in the sidewalk. When I fell I was only two blocks from where I live. I can’t remember falling. I felt like I was running and next thing you know, I am on the floor. I cut my hands, knees, wrists, and my right shoulder. Fortunately, my head hit the ground but was saved from the baseball hat that slid down the side of my face as I fell. I got up real quick and made sure no one saw because I may be an “adult’ but I was not prepared for an audience to see what I had just done. I went home quick and cleaned up all my wounds and checked each one out. Let me just say Katniss Everdeen must have a lot of adrenaline pumping during the Hunger Games because when I got home my cuts were really starting to sting.  So I thought this experience was a great representation of life because when you get knocked down you have to remember to get back up and try again. Am I right? I think I am. 😉  #cheeseball

The cut on my shoulder was the biggest, grossest cut on me. Nonetheless, I decided I was still going to wear my spaghetti strap dress to my friend’s party the next day because I loved the dress that I bought the night before. Who cares that I had a massive scab on my right shoulder? Okay, I cared a little when I noticed someone staring at it a little too long but then I was like whatever.  I can’t help that the sidewalk attacked me.  🙂

I am not going to show any pictures of my cuts because that would be gross for anyone who reads this. Instead, I have documented my current nail polish and sad attempt at making avocado toast. My avocado toast wasn’t that bad but it just didn’t taste as good as how restaurants make it.

Friday Lessons :)

Friday Lessons!

Try not to make your life perfect because it will never really be. Stop looking for other things to make your life perfect when you are lucky enough with the many things you have.

Just because you have a terrible looking scab on your shoulder does not mean you cannot wear a spaghetti strap dress that you bought the night before.

Always dance if you can.

Making small talk is a talent that takes awhile to master.

Hearing an old Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys song on the radio is a magical experience.

Getting clothes in the mail will always feel like a present to your self.

Just Keep Smiling

Friday Lessons!

week 2 list!

Last night I made a fool of myself at soccer as per usual. My friend, Melissa and I decided we are on a search to find a beginner’s team in the area. We played in middle school but we figure we will feel more comfortable with a beginner type group.

Song of the Week

‘Drag me Down,’ by One Direction. 😉  #cantstoplistening

I am making sure my nails are painted for the whole month of August. Yay! For this week my nails were painted with Revlon Parfumerie nail polish in the color Wintermint.

August Goals

august goals1

Happy First Week of August!

I have come up with 10 goals for August that hopefully I will have accomplished at the end of the month. I used picmonkey to create my goal list. I am still playing around with picmonkey so I am sorry if some of the posts look terrible.

Reason for each goal

1. I have applied to 10 jobs so far. Yay!

2. I took an HTML class in college and loved it, however it was only a beginner course. HTML classes can be very expensive but I was fortunate to find one in my area.

3. My brother and I get along great but I feel like out of all my siblings I talk to him the least so I am changing that this month.

4. I can’t wait for my bedroom to be finished.

5. I am looking into taking a bodypump or kickboxing class.

6.I always feel like my life is put together when I have my toes and fingernails painted.

7. Explains itself.

8. I want to spend as much time outside and at the beach this month.

9. I keep reminding myself that I am due to donate blood. I am also interested in possibly donating plasma.

10. I went to the physical therapist and he said I really needed to loosen up my muscles and stretch.

Time for me to head to the nail salon for a pedicure with my sister. 🙂

Friday Lessons

I came up with the idea to make a post every week that is called ‘Friday Lessons’ so here is the first ever post. The posts will basically focus on somethings I learned or remembered this week. Some lessons may be funny, some may be a bit serious, and others may just be educational. Here we go!

Ten Things I Learned This Week

1. If you are putting all of the work in a friendship and your friend is not then it is time to reevaluate that friendship.
2. Complaining about your problems gets you nowhere. To fix something we must take action. Even the tiniest step can make a difference.
3. Sometimes you may take any job in your dream company in the hopes that it will bring you one step closer to your dream job.
4. Deep tissue massages are not meant for everybody.
5. Stretching will make you feel so much better.
6. Dancing can change a mood in about a second.
7. If you see a pair of jeans at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and you keep thinking about them, then maybe you should buy them so you both can be united as one.
8. Seeing a picture of your newborn niece will instantly make you smile.
9. Laughing in Magnolia Bakery, til midnight, with your best friend will always top going out to a brand new nightclub.
10. Kicking a soccer ball to a teammate who then scores will immediately make you feel like a badass.

For dinner, I will be having a shrimp salad with raspberry dressing from Trader Joe’s.

Ingredients

Shrimp, spinach, green grapes, pineapple, and slivered almonds.

Song Of the Week

“Like I Can” by Sam Smith

I know this song has been on the radio for a long while now but I can’t stop listening to it on youtube. 🙂

What Is A Scramblette?

IMG_2735-1I am going to call breakfast this morning a scramblette. I tried to make an omelette but it came out part scramble/part omelette. The omelette had cheddar cheese and spinach. My whole grain toast had almond butter and strawberry jam on top.

Exercise for the day

4 mile run. I kept switching up my speed from 5.5 to 7.0, and then at random moments I would run at 8.0 for 30 seconds.

I sent out this snap chat yesterday from my outside run. I saved it and then later on realized I misspelled run. #snapchatfail

That should definitely say 'finished'

That should definitely say ‘finished’

I did 25 bicep curls and 10 triceps dips. I am trying to slowly ease into the weight training. Wish me luck! 😉

Food Goals

I ate a cheese quesadilla this week that made me feel way too stuffed and icky. So I came to the conclusion that I have been eating way too much cheese lately. I am going to abstain from cheese for a week to see if it will make my stomach feel less bloated. It might work or it might not, we shall see!

P.S. This was supposed to be scheduled to post on Tuesday but I saved it as a draft. 😦

My BFF Monday

Happy Monday

I thought I would start this post off with a quick recap of my weekend. I had a fabulous three days that defined exactly how a weekend should go in the summer. 🙂 The weekend was combined with BBQ’s, spending time with friends, and being lazy. I took some pictures throughout the three days that you can see below. One of the pictures is a terrible cropped version of me because I am not ready to post photos of family and friends yet. I actually just told one friend about my blog. I was nervous but it is something I enjoy so I might as well share it. As I feel more comfortable with the blog I will spread the word with family and friends. I am still getting a feel for the blog so I am not sure what topics will stay or never again be seen on the blog.

Enjoy your Monday! Please remember we can choose to not hate Mondays! BTW, the season finale of The Bachelorette is on tonight so no one should be complaining about today being a Monday. 😉

My breakfast. Yes, my mom made it

My breakfast. Yes, my mom made it.

My college best friend, Harper is moving to the city (I am so excited!!!) so she went apartment hunting this past weekend and I was fortunate enough to see her. We met up at the Natural History Museum, then walked a few blocks to grab a bite to eat, and finished our night off eating dessert at Magnolia Bakery.

We took a selfie, which is why I look way too close to the camera.

Saturday

My childhood best friend, Melissa and I went to the beach. We sat for about two and a half hours talking about anything you could think of.

DSCF0704On my way home, I stopped at Trader Joe’s to pick up some groceries.

While I was shopping my sister texted me to invite me to her friend’s BBQ. I was pretty nervous to go and even thought about not going. My sister is four years older than me. We never had the same friends when we were kids but now that we are both older it is easier for us to hang out. The thing is I get terribly anxious in social situations. If I know everyone in the social setting, then I am usually fine. My sister’s friend’s BBQ had only three people who I knew. One person was my sister and the others were two of her friends.  Pretty nerve-wracking! But for some strange reason I felt like I would regret not going to the BBQ. My mom even encouraged me to go. And the thing is I am trying to be fearless and a bit more brave so I went. 🙂 I had a lovely time and it sort of felt like my childhood dream was coming true because as a kid I always wanted hangout with her friends. Luckily, my sister didn’t leave my side and everyone was friendly.

Sunday

Sunday was spent the best way Sundays should be spent. Sunday was a lazy day. I made an omelette for the first time!

sunday breakfastThe omelette was left on the pan a little to long so it was bit crispy, which was a bit of bummer. At least this came out as an omelette! Every time I have tried to make an omelette it has turned into scrambled eggs. I also enjoyed a chicken sausage on the side. I picked up sushi for my sister who had a bit of a hangover as well as Starbucks for me. I ran into an old classmate’s mom who asked the dreaded question what I was doing with my life. Please tell me that I am not the only person who hates this question! She meant to be kind but gosh, I would still be nervous answering this question if I was a famous movie star. I watched a movie when I got home and, then took my dogs for a walk in the park, where this little guy walked out of the woods.

beeverI was quite surprised to see a beaver in my hometown considering it is an urban area. Isn’t he or she so cute? I ended my night making this awesome pizza before meeting my mom for a little dinner chat with my sister.pizza 2

Oh wait! I actually finished my night face timing my other sister and her new baby girl!

Other amazing Monday news!

My Lily Pulitzer agenda starts this week! 🙂
